Westjet Reduces Checked Baggage Weight Allowance

Effective December 7, 2006 each piece of checked baggage on Westjet domestic and transborder flights may weigh 27 kg (60 lbs) without incurring additional fees.This is a reduction from the current 32 kg (70lbs) allowance.

Domestic & Canada/U.S. flights: Two items of checked baggage are accepted per fare-paying guest.

Excess, overweight, or oversize checked baggage: A fee of $40 (plus tax) will apply for any bag that meets the following conditions:

Extra Piece*	Extra pieces are accepted on a space-available basis only, to a maximum of three excess pieces per guest.	$40 Per item
Overweight	More than 32 kgs (70 lbs) but not over 45 kgs (100 lbs)	$40 Per item
Oversize	158 cm – 200cm (62 in – 80 in)	$40 Per item
* If you are checking any oversize items please ensure you arrive at the airport no later than 60 minutes prior to your flight in order to allow enough time for your item to be screened before proceeding through security. NOTE: More than one fee may be applied. For example, if the item is overweight and oversize, it will be charged twice.

Effective December 7, 2006, guests will be permitted to bring a maximum of two excess pieces per guest. Excess pieces will be charged a fee of $75 per piece. Oversize or overweight items will remain at $40.
