Toronto – The Canadian Snowbird Association (CSA) applauds the passage of S. 744, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act in the U.S. Senate. The legislation, which contains a provision to increase the amount of time that Canadian retirees are permitted to spend in the United States, was approved by the Senate on June 27, 2013 with a final vote of 68 to 32.
“This is a significant step in the CSA’s effort to increase the length of stay for Canadian snowbirds who winter in the United States” said Bob Slack, President of the Canadian Snowbird Association. “We urge the U.S. House of Representatives to pass a similar bipartisan bill in a timely manner.”
The CSA commends Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), whom the CSA has been working in partnership with, for his leadership and support on this initiative.
