The Government of Canada is now officially recommending that Canadian travellers abroad return to Canada. Further, the Government of Canada has also issued an official global travel advisory that all non-essential travel outside of Canada be avoided.
We have received confirmed reports that several insurance providers are giving policy holders 10-days to return home to Canada before all coverage ceases. It is strongly advised that members contact their travel medical insurance provider immediately in order to determine their updated policies. At this time, Medipac International Inc. is not mandating that policy holders return home within 10-days.
Land ports of entry and major airports in Canada remain open. On Friday, federal Minister of Transport Marc Garneau said the government is planning to restrict the number of airports in Canada that will accept international flights to consolidate COVID-19 screening. As of today, no further details have been announced.
The CSA is in communication with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and we will relay all pertinent information to members as it becomes available.

Upon return to Canada, travellers need to self-isolate for 14 days. Some provinces and territories may have specific recommendations for certain groups such as health care workers.
If you develop a fever, cough or difficulty breathing within 14 days, you should continue to isolate yourself from others and immediately call a health care professional or your public health authority.
