Coming Back Across the Border, AGRRR!
Posted date : Nov 13, 2017.
Dear Bird Talk,
Up to now, we have been reluctant to join your group, preferring to stay on the sidelines, but our recent return to Canada has forced a change. We entered Canada at the Coutts, Alberta crossing the morning of April 12th and were dismayed and unhappy with our treatment by Canada Customs. Upon speaking to others, it seems this is the way it is.
Rather than being welcomed back as taxpayers and consumers we felt suspect, as if we were trying to enter our own country illegally. Lists and receipts that were acceptable in years past became none of their business, as they grilled us for a verbal declaration. We have no problem with people doing their jobs, however we take exception to people that treat us rude and very short. The examination of our belongings appeared little more than snooping through every nook and cranny.
I think these people or their supervisors should realize that our taxes make it possible for them to go to work each day. I would like to think we were the exception, however I believe there are a lot more stories like this.
Thank you for letting us vent our frustration.
New Members,
Jack and Elaine Proseilo

The CSA is committed to making border crossings more convenient, as we have all had difficulty crossing the border from time to time. Welcome to the CSA and don’t forget to tell your friends.
