Welcome Back to Canada

Dear Bird Talk,
On some occasions when returning home after spending the winter months in Texas, we have been greeted by Canadian customs officers at the Sarnia/Port Huron border crossing who made us feel as if we were spoiling their day by being at their booth. This past spring was different, as the young lady officer who greeted us asked how long we had been in the U.S. and, after hearing our reply of “four-and-a-half months,” she gave us a big welcoming smile and said “Well, WELCOME BACK TO CANADA.” What a warm feeling that gave both of us – she did her job thoroughly and we were on our way, making us feel as if Canada, our home and native land, was indeed glad to have us back.
