Entrance Fee at Extravaganza

Dear Bird Talk,
We think there should be a charge for non-members at the Extravaganzas. We went to the one in Lakeland. There were so many people we could not enjoy ourselves. One or two dollars would help all the good work you try to do. We know sponsors pay for some of the cost but probably not all the cost.
Increasing the yearly fee brought this to mind.

We have tried charging admission twice, and it didn’t work out very well in either case, more so in the U.S. We had many unhappy Americans feeling “unwelcome in their own country” because they had to pay and the Canadians did not, membership in the CSA notwithstanding. Since we have always had the pleasure of entertaining our American Snowbird friends at our events, we decided to continue the practice with open arms and free admission. The extra money sure would have helped, though.
