IRS Tax Form 8840
Posted date : Nov 4, 2017.
Dear Bird Talk,
This year will be our first snowbird year. We will enter the U.S. on Dec. 28th. Do we have to fill out the 8840 for 2013? If yes, when do we send it in?

Response:
Ed.: If you are staying for less than three months, every year, I would not bother filing an 8840. In any event, you do not need to file one for 2013 because you will be in the U.S. for less than 31 days. Next year (2014 tax year), you should file the 8840 prior to June 15, 2015 (or April 15 if you are reporting U.S. income).
