Retired in 1994, Mr. James Carl Simpson had a distinguished career serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. For 29 years, Mr. Simpson worked in many aspects of the armed forces including combat and strategical combat positions. He served in Germany, Cyprus, Czechoslovakia, and Northwest Territories among other NATO excursions. In addition to his work in the armed services, Mr. Simpson has been significantly involved in the Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) since 1973. He worked in various positions at the RCL, which included membership-at-large, district poppy chair, zone commander, and president. Mr. Simpson is an active volunteer. He is involved in the Heroes Mending on the Fly program which is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans. In addition, he is also an active member of the Timmins Senior Centre and for the past three years has been organizing the Annual Canadian Snowbirds Canada Day in Panama City Beach, Florida. Mr. Simpson is also the recipient of two Queen’s commendations – the Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee as well as the Canadian Armed Forces Decoration (Service) CD2. Mr. Simpson received his Bachelor of Social Work from Carleton University in 1983. He is looking forward to participating and working alongside the executive members of the CSA and Medipac International. Carl and his friend Judy Cecconi reside in Timmins, Ontario and spend their winters in Panama City Beach, Florida.
