CSA TRAVEL INFORMATION GUIDE
California

Visitors to California are
not
permitted to use a Canadian Disabled Parking placard.
•

Visitors must apply for a California Temporary or Travel Disabled Person Parking placard for
non-residents; these are issued for no longer than ninety days but are renewable.

A fillable (then print) application form can be obtained by logging onto your computer and
visiting the California department of Motor Vehicle website at

Residents of California may apply for a Permanent Disabled Person Parking placard.
•

There is a fee of $6 for a temporary placard and no fee for a permanent placard.

Florida
•
•
Visitors to Florida cannot use their out-of-country disabled parking permit buy may obtain a
temporary parking permit by submitting:

A copy of their valid out-of-country disabled parking permit
•
•
A passport or comparable ID
•
•
The required fee - $15.00
•
•
A Florida driver’s licence or Florida identification card is not required
•
•
The permit is valid for up to six months
•
•
This permit cannot be issued through the mail. Original documents and identification may be
brought to any of their Florida DMV office locations. The documents may be brought in by a
family member, friend or guardian and will be returned.

Residents of Florida with a valid Florida driver’s licence or Florida identification card may not
use a non-Florida handicap permit (and park in a designated handicap parking space) unless
they are transporting the registered owner of the handicap placard at that time.
Texas
•

Visitors to Texas who stay less than 30 days may use a Canadian Disabled Person placard.
•
•
Visitors and/or residents to Texas who stay more than 30 days require a temporary Disabled
Parking placard valid for six months.

Residents of Texas with a valid Texas driver’s licence or Texas identification card may apply for a
four year Disabled Person Parking permit.
•
•
There are two categories of Disabled Person placards, red and blue, and each requires a fee of
$5 per placard.
