Hurricane Milton is expected to sweep across various locations on Florida’s west and east coasts between October 8 and 9, 2024. The storm is likely to bring excessive rainfall and violent winds. It may cause flash flooding and landslides and could severely disrupt essential services. The Government of Canada has issued a travel advisory advising Canadians to avoid non-essential travel to the following parts of Florida, due to Hurricane Milton:
- West coast:
- from Chokoloskee to the mouth of the Suwanee River, including Tampa Bay
- Lake Okeechobee
- the Dry Tortugas
- East coast:
- from the St. Lucie/Indian River County Line northward to mouth of the St. Mary’s River
- Inland area of the Florida peninsula between the affected coastlines mentioned above
