In light of ongoing developments resulting from the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Newfoundland & Labrador provincial picnic, which was scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 19, 2020, has been cancelled.
As snowbirds make their preparations to return home to Canada, it is important that they heed the advice of government health officials regarding coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
While the risk to Canadian travellers abroad is generally low, it is advised that travellers
returning to Canada review the information on the following Government of Canada website:
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19): Travel advice
This website contains active travel notices and important advice for travellers returning home. It will be updated continuously as more information becomes available.
Upon return to Canada, travellers need to self-isolate for 14 days. Some provinces and territories may have specific recommendations for certain groups such as health care workers.
If you develop a fever, cough or difficulty breathing within 14 days, you should continue to isolate yourself from others and immediately call a health care professional or your public health authority.
The Canadian Snowbird Association (CSA) is monitoring this matter closely and will be updating our membership as new information becomes available.
